More than two thirds of our current workforce started with us as either a trainee or an apprentice. We continually strive to develop and enhance the skills of all our employees and, with a staff retention rate of over 90%, we have built an experienced and talented workforce.

We are an accredited Real Living Wage employer, offering a competitive wage rate to our employees which reflects the real cost of living. The Living Wage is a voluntary rate used by more than 13,000 UK businesses, and it’s higher than both the Minimum Wage and the National Living Wage. It’s all part of our commitment to put people ahead of profits, and we are always trying to go further. Meet the experts

Richard Hilton

Richard Hilton Chairman

Richard Hilton is the Owner and Chairman of Fabweld Steel Products. He began his career at 16 as a fabricator and founded the company at the age of 22 in 1988. Under his leadership, Fabweld Steel Products has grown to employ over 40 people and is a respected name in the fabricated steel products industry. Richard also serves as Vice Chairman of FACTA.

The company is committed to sustainability and quality, holding multiple certifications and winning the King’s Award for Sustainability in 2025.

Outside of work, Richard supports Wolverhampton Wanderers, enjoys playing golf, travelling, and spending time with his three grandchildren and adopted dog, Ralphie.

Richard’s vision is for Fabweld Steel Products to be recognised for quality, sustainability, and innovation.

Wayne Carter

Wayne Carter Managing Director

Wayne began his journey with Fabweld Steel Products in August 1990 through the Youth Training Scheme (YTS) as a Welder. Demonstrating a strong work ethic, tenacity, and a commitment to continuous improvement, he steadily advanced through the organisation, taking on roles including Works Foreman, Work Manager, and Operations Director. In December 2022, he was appointed Managing Director.

Throughout his 35-year career at FSP, Wayne has been a driving force behind transformational change across the business. He is deeply passionate about environmental responsibility and is committed to building a sustainable organisation, both in terms of operational practices and the development of its people. One of his proudest achievements is the growth of his Senior Management Team, with three out of four members having followed similar career paths and earning first-class degrees under his leadership.

Angela Dempster

Angela Dempster Finance Manager

Angela is an experienced and trusted finance manager who brings a practical, solutions-focused approach to supporting the company’s financial health. With a successful career in finance, she combines extensive knowledge with strong commercial acumen to help navigate challenges and contribute to effective business performance. Angela delivers timely, accurate financial information to assist the directors with strategic planning and decision-making.

She is passionate about driving efficiencies and has a keen interest in sustainability and digital transformation. Always looking to streamline processes and improve outcomes, Angela enjoys researching evolving technologies and ideas to make finance smarter, more agile, and aligned with the company’s long-term goals.

Outside of work, Angela enjoys walking her Basset Hound in the beautiful Shropshire countryside.

James Benting

James Benting Technical Manager

James is Technical Manager at Fabweld Steel Products, where he leads the design of innovative products with a strong focus on structural engineering. With a degree in Civil Engineering and currently studying for the GIStrucE exam, James brings both practical experience and academic rigour to his role.
His knowledge in structural design gives FSP a competitive edge, especially in areas where others lack specialist knowledge. Over the years, James has held a variety of roles within the company, including welder/fabricator, designer, senior design engineer, and account manager, which has given him a well-rounded understanding of the business.
Outside of work, he’s known for taking on personal and charitable challenges that reflect his adventurous spirit and commitment.

Chris Corbett

Chris Corbett Sales & Marketing Manager

Christopher began his journey with Fabweld Steel Products in 2010 as an Apprentice, starting in Sales Administration and steadily progressing through roles in Internal Sales and Sales Executive before being appointed Sales Manager in 2015. His career path reflects a deep-rooted understanding of the sales function and a commitment to delivering exceptional service at every level.

With over a decade of experience in the sales department, Christopher brings a unique perspective to customer engagement—one shaped by hands-on experience, attention to detail, and a genuine passion for people. His ability to understand customer requirements from every angle allows him to build lasting relationships and deliver tailored solutions that meet both immediate needs and long-term goals.

Leading both Sales and Marketing, Christopher plays a pivotal role in shaping FSP’s commercial strategy and brand presence. He is deeply committed to driving customer satisfaction, continuously seeking ways to enhance service delivery, strengthen communication, and ensure that every client interaction reflects the values of trust, reliability, and excellence that define FSP.

Christopher James

Christopher James Production Manager

Chris is the Production Manager at Fabweld Steel Products Ltd., where he leads manufacturing operations. Since joining the company in 2008 as an apprentice, Chris has progressed through the technical department and served as an assistant to production before stepping into his current leadership role. His hands-on experience across departments gives him a deep understanding of the production process and steel fabrication.

Outside of work, Chris is a passionate supporter of Sunderland AFC. He enjoys playing golf, traveling, hiking, and spending quality time with friends and family
