March 7, 2022 FSP drives access solutions for major transport project
FSP has played a part in a £1.5bn scheme to improve one of the busiest roads in the country, the A14.
More than 85,000 vehicles a day use the dual carriageway, which runs between Cambridge and Huntingdon, providing a strategic link between the A1 and the M11 motorway.
The Highways England project, which is due to be finished later this year, includes a new 12-mile bypass, widening of the road and improving junctions.
We supplied a landing platform that will be installed inside one of the service chambers on the road. This follows on from orders for our FAB GRAB safety chains and manhole ladders that are also being used in the project.
Managing Director Richard Hilton said: “The A14 has an important role in the road network keeping the country moving between the Midlands and East Anglia for commuter and logistics traffic as well as other vehicles.
“Our landing platforms are manufactured in accordance with BS EN1090 1:2009+A1:2011 Execution Class 2. Along with our CE marked ladders and safety chains they are all designed to allow easy and safe access to underground services that will allow day to day maintenance to carry on without interrupting road users.”
