March 7, 2022 FSP flood solution for London housing development

FSP has designed and manufactured a bespoke mesh grate for a new housing community under construction in north London.

The open mesh grate duct run has been installed by NATTA Building Co. Ltd for house builder Taylor Wimpey at Millbrook Park in Mill Hill, a new development of more than 2,200 homes and community facilities that is being developed in 15 phases. It is situated on raised brickwork on a footpath situated above a culvert.

The grate filters out any surface water and storm water towards a dry well, which ultimately prevents flooding within the area. The grates are also removable, ensuring that maintenance can be easily carried out.

The design also ensures that pedestrians can still safely traverse across it, without it impacting on the intended purpose of the grating.

The grate was designed and produced on a quicker lead time than normal to meet the site’s tight deadline.
