March 7, 2022 James takes on mountain challenge for Severn Hospice

One of our team will swap the rolling hills of Shropshire for the mountainous terrain of the Matterhorn later this year to raise funds for the Severn Hospice.

James Benting, our special projects manager, will take on the gruelling climb of the Italian side of the one of the highest peaks in Europe to raise funds for the hospice where his friend and former colleague Norman Carter, who was our Business Development Manager, died in August last year.

The challenge will be to reach the summit at 4,478 metres high. James has been training by completing weighted runs around local landmark The Wrekin and is aiming to raise as much money as he can in memory of Norman.

He said: “There is no doubt it will be very dangerous and an extreme physical and mental challenge but one I will do with Norman in mind as he was a mountaineer himself.

“The Severn Hospice does an amazing job caring for people like Norman and their families and they need help towards their funding now more than ever. Whatever anyone can give will go to support this great charity.”
