March 7, 2022 FSP bags the contract for new Chester market
Contractors at the Chester Northgate Phase 1 market and leisure complex have selected FSP to supply its recessed access covers to the project.
The Chester Northgate Phase 1 is set to transform the city-centre location into a leisure destination that will include a cinema, market, restaurants and offices.
The project is the biggest building project in Chester for more than 40 years and site planners claim that over 300 tonnes of steel framework will be installed across the site.
Additional steel fabricated products will also be installed, including FSP’s flagship recessed cover range, FAB TRAYTM.
The FAB TRAY S20 product, which has been selected for the Northgate site, is manufactured from high grade mild steel and designed to suit a 600 x 600mm clear opening.
The covers also include M12 locking and lifting points, which aims to deter unauthorised removal after installation.
Contractors claim that 99.7 per cent of waste from the site will be recovered or recycled, with recovered sandstone being used to repair the city’s historic walls. Sand that has been excavated from the new drainage tunnels has also been donated to Chester Zoo for its black rhino and painted dog enclosures.
