March 7, 2022 FSP is top of the class for new school’s drainage covers
A Grade II listed building which has been transformed into a new secondary school has installed 70 FAB PAVE S20 drainage covers.
The sealed and locking drainage covers, which are FACTA D rated, were specified by McDermott Building & Civil – one of the contractors appointed to deliver the new Houlton School on the former site of the Rugby Radio Station.
It’s not the first time we have worked with McDermott Building & Civil – we supplied our FAB PAVETM S40 hinged and S20 sealed and locking access covers for the McArthurGlen designer shopping outlet that it built in Cannock and which opened earlier this year.
Built by Morgan Sindall Construction, Houlton School will teach more than 1,200 students from Year 7 and upwards and will include a sixth form, purpose-built STEM and humanities buildings and a sports centre which will be available for community use. Honouring the site’s history, the school also has a professional grade radio studio.
FSP’s S20 drainage covers have been installed throughout the development. Most are 600x600mm, and four have been manufactured especially for the school site in a bespoke 900x900mm size.
Ideal for paved environments and designed to blend in aesthetically with their surroundings, FAB PAVE S20 covers are made from mild steel and hot dip galvanised to BS EN:ISO1461. With a neoprene seal to ensure the cover is airtight, the drainage covers also feature M12 locking and lifting points to deter unauthorised removal of the cover for maximum safety.
